SPOT
Hakkenzan Winery
A winery established in 2011 at the foot of Mt. Hakkenzan. The bright red brewery, which stands out strikingly against the dazzling green landscape and vineyards, is impressive. With the motto, 'Wine is made in the vineyard, and grapes want to become wine,' the winery currently produces 13 varieties of wine. It is also dedicated to the conservation of the satoyama (village-vicinity mountain) by planting trees on its premises to protect the natural landscape.
The winery offers tastings of local Sapporo wine and guided winery tours with tastings (reservations required). It also features an adjoining restaurant that serves dishes pairing well with wine, and a campground. Nearby, there are park golf courses, horse riding clubs, and fruit orchards, and Jozankei Onsen (hot springs) is about a 10-minute drive away, making it a place where you can enjoy a full day of fun.
